Two Mississippians have died in hunting-related incidents but overall the 2011-12 season has had a safe start, according to state wildlife officials.
Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, said both fatalities involved deer hunting. One death was caused by a fall from a treestand and the other was firearm related.
Since the Sept. 1 start of the 2011 hunting season, 13 total incidents have been reported, Carter said, with 12 of the 13 involving deer hunting.
The other reported incident was dove hunting.
