Gov. Phil Bryant must believe in the old adage if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.
Bryant plans on giving his first state of the state address next Tuesday from the platform set up on the south steps of the Capitol. The outdoor speech begins at 5:30.
The governor was supposed to use that platform to take the oath of office last Tuesday. But, a rainy forecast moved the inauguration from the south steps of the Capitol to the House chambers.
The inclement weather on inauguration day forced the governor’s office to postpone the traditional inauguration parade. It will be held this Saturday. The Vancleave High School marching band, and the Band of Gold from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College are both expected to march in that parade.
According to a legislative resolution, the state of the state address will move inside the House chambers if the weather turns nasty.
