Republican Rep. Becky Currie of Brookhaven was elected to the Mississippi House of Representatives in 2007. In 2011, she began to speak out more publicly about the need for immigration reform. Since that time she has become one of the faces of the immigration reform movement in the legislature, speaking to groups across Mississippi, working with colleagues to craft legislation, and talking candidly about the abuses related to illegal immigration.

In our discussion, Rep. Currie addressed the Supreme Court ruling on the Arizona immigration law, the need for more teeth in Mississippi’s E-verify law, the problems immigration reform now faces in the state senate, and the problem with Mexican gangs, and trafficking and harboring illegals in her home district.
The interview lasts just short of 15 minutes, and she has much to say.
