Senator Chris McDaniel talks to Mississippi PEP about Obamacare and what he expects from the Supreme Court

BY: B. Keith Plunkett

Mississippi Senator Chris McDaniel of Jones County is not only a state senator, he is an accomplished attorney specializing in constitutional issues. In April of 2010 he filed suit against the federal government on behalf of then Lt. Governor, now Governor Phil Bryant and 10 individual Mississippians claiming that the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate violates the constitution. Thursday, June 28, the Supreme Court is expected to rule on the first of many lawsuits claiming the law is unconstitutional.

Senator McDaniel joined me for this interview to discuss the basics behind the challenge and what he is expecting from the ruling. He also talks about the affects the law would have on Mississippi’s budget through the mandated expansion of Medicaid.
