Commissioner Hyde-Smith wants Legislature to fund multi-million dollar renovation at coliseum.


Agriculture Commissioner Cindy Hyde-Smith is pushing for the Legislature to help fund the biggest renovation project that the coliseum has ever seen.

It’s unclear at this point whether funding could be secured through a multi-million dollar bond bill or some other means.

But if it happens, the renovation would help boost the ideally located arena’s ability to play a larger role as a major revenue generator for both the city of Jackson and the state.

“We just want to capitalize on the potential revenue that is obviously there,” Hyde-Smith said.
