The Eight Flags display is back on U.S. 90 at the entrance to Rue Magnolia, where the display was often photographed before Hurricane Katrina seven years ago.
The city spent about $7,000 for the flagpoles and installation that showcases the eight flags that have flown over Biloxi since 1699.
The flags are the French, English, Spanish, Republic of West Florida, United States, Mississippi State Magnolia, Confederate First National and Mississippi.
The Confederate battle flag, which caused years of debate when it flew at an Eight Flags display near DeBuys Road, isn’t among the flags, said city spokesperson Vincent Creel.
The new flagpoles are shorter than the original versions, which makes the display easier to photograph. The exhibit is south of Mary Mahoney’s restaurant and across from Hard Rock and Beau Rivage casinos.
