Southern District Public Service Commissioner Leonard Bentz will be leaving office to become the head of the Southern Mississippi Planning and Development District.
Bentz was unanimously approved Wednesday afternoon as director of the group and will receive a salary of $150,000 a year. The group’s board of directors made the choice.
A condition of the selection was that Bentz’s father, Leonard Bentz Sr., step down from the board of directors. The elder Bentz didn’t participate in the vote Wednesday afternoon that gave his son the job.
