Interim state Superintendent of Education Lynn House will serve on the new Charter School Authorizer Board, but probably only until a new permanent superintendent is named.

Spokeswoman Patrice Guilfoyle said Monday that the state Board of Education agreed without a vote at its July meeting that House should take the post.

The law expanding Mississippi charter schools gives an appointment to the superintendent, not the board, but House had said she wanted to consult the board.
