Northern District Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley, considered by some as a rising Democratic political star, says he won’t run for governor in 2015.
A key question going into 2015 is whether the Mississippi Democratic Party can field a viable candidate for statewide office.
Presley, an outspoken champion for consumers while on the PSC, said Tuesday he has received a lot of encouragement to run for governor from Democrats, Republicans and independents, but he has made a decision to seek reelection to the PSC.
“I will make an announcement on Friday that I plan to seek reelection,” Presley said.
The decision by Presley to seek reelection to the PSC removes one of the most mentioned Democrats as a possible candidate for governor.
