The Board of Trustees for Singing River Health System on Thursday rescinded its secret vote of Nov. 20 to terminate its underfunded employee pension plan.
“Termination is off the table, at least for now,” said attorney Jim Reeves, who represents plan members in a federal lawsuit filed against Singing River and others. “It’s a good first step. It’s not the end by any means for these people, but it’s a step in the right direction.”
The vote gives SRHS and Jackson County, which owns the health system, flexibility to look at resolutions for re-funding the plan to meet its obligations.
