The testing organization pushed by many local superintendents and lawmakers says it won’t seek Mississippi’s contract for testing.

Iowa-based ACT, in a March 6 letter, raised objections to Mississippi’s demands that the test be “completely aligned” to the state’s Common Core standards, that Mississippi review and approve test forms and that the state be allowed to give customized questions that it would own.

The Mississippi Department of Education is accepting proposals through Monday for test vendors.
