Cory Wilson will be the first legislator to represent the newly-created House District 73 following the withdrawal of John Reeves as a contender this week.
Reeves said the timing was off, and since he had made no campaign moves the decision to withdrawal was fitting.
“I was uncertain about it when I qualified to run,” Reeves said. “The Lord has blessed me with a tremendous statewide law practice and after nearly 33 years of practice I’ve been blessed with that.
“It requires 100 percent of my devotion and my efforts and I simply cannot budget the time out of this busy practice right now to campaign,” he continued. “I have so many important cases that people are depending on me for that.”
Reeves said in addition to his law practice he and his wife have five children and raising them is a “full-time endeavor” in itself.
