Tunica School District may have shared students’ personal information.

FOX13 is reporting that the Tunica County School District may have shared students’ personal information including social security numbers and detention summaries by posting on the school district’s website.

Tunica County Superintendent Stephen Chandler is calling it a “data breach.”

Chandler told FOX13 he was not going to talk on camera before informing his parents Monday afternoon. However, on a phone call, he did tell us safety plans and detention/suspension information was “erroneously” put on the district’s website and it included personal student information.

“In the spirit of making our plans transparent, we accidentally revealed some of that information that shouldn’t have been released,” he told FOX13 regarding the safety plans posted on the website, “It’s just information for first responders so they’re aware of who may or may not be able to get out.”
