Mississippi is home to the nation’s oldest community college system and a recent study puts it at the top of the list.

Mississippi’s two year college system began in the 1920’s and was the nation’s first state-wide community college system. Today it is considered one of the strongest in the country after a recent study conducted by Wallet-Hub named our system the best in the nation for 2015. 

Mississippi’s high ranking can be attributed to factors like cost, class size, graduation rates, and the average starting salaries of community college graduates. 

A six year study conducted by the National Student Clearing House shows Mississippi community colleges with a completion rate of 46 percent. That’s nearly 10 percent higher than the national average.
